Yahoo's Scenarios

BURLINGAME, CALIF. -- Who knew Yahoo! Chief Executive Jerry Yang had it in him? Two months after Microsoft took its effort to snare Yahoo! public--unveiling a more than US$40-billion offer for the struggling Web portal--Yang has put the company he co-founded at the center of a host of takeover scenarios.

Will Microsoft buy Yahoo! ? Will Yahoo! strike a mega-deal with Google to keep Microsoft away? Or will Yahoo! hook up with AOL? Finally, there's the prospect of Microsoft pulling in News Corp. into the fray to help it nail down Yahoo!.

On one of my blogs a couple of months ago, I stated that it is possible that Microsoft will push Yahoo into a corner where it will be forced to look at other options and those options could possibly catapult Yahoo into an again-extremely successful company. This article holds proof that prediction is coming to fruition.
